Occasional Offices
The occasional offices of the Church are those which recognise a particular stage or transition in life; birth, or conversion, marriage, and death. These junctures of human life are recognised by the church as requiring particular prayerful attention, ritual expression, and pastoral care.
Baptisms
We would love to host your family Baptism. Baptism is a wonderful occasion which renews and invigorates the church and all those that partake of it: it is the rite of entry into the Christian church. It is not a naming ceremony, nor is it a thanksgiving service for the birth of a child. In view of this, it must be entered into sincerely and with the intention of joining the church community- for this reason, baptisms are held during the ordinary Sunday service and are offered on specific Sundays of the month on which clergy are available. Please enquire as to which forthcoming Sundays are available (ask the vicar- brsecclestonop@gmail.com). These dates are determined by clergy availability, and therefore ‘booking’ a baptism on a specific date is not something we can offer. If you are unfamiliar with the Church, we may ask you to undergo some preparation for baptism before the service.
Weddings
Weddings are one of the most joyous occasions in the church calendar. For everyone involved- the happy couple, family, friends, clergy and church community, they are life affirming occasions which help us to focus on what really matters. If you would like to book a wedding at either of our churches, contact the vicar on brsecclestonop@gmail.com

Funerals
Funerals can be some of the most important occasions in the life of a family. Recognising the infinite worth of a loved one who has passed, publicly coming to terms with grief and loss, and offering their care into God's hands can be a crucial part of reconstituting, both individually and collectively, around the changed reality in the wake of loss. Funeral services can be booked via a Funeral Director or directly with the Vicar- brsecclestonop@gmail.com. If, for whatever reason, a funeral service was not possible at the time of your loved one's death, Memorial Services can also be arranged. We can facilitate interments of ashes in our memorial garden at St James', pictured below.
